The wearable electronics boom continues in the Czech Republic. Eurostat data shows that products such as smart watches or fitness bracelets are already used by almost half of Czechs. Within the entire European Union, this ranks us third behind the Netherlands and Ireland. The leading domestic electronics retailer DATART also confirms the trend. According to him, in the first half of the year, sales of smart watches increased by 15% year-on-year. The seller observes a growing demand especially for premium models.
Smart watches, fitness bracelets and other devices from the segment of wearable electronics are extremely popular among Czechs. This is confirmed by the latest Eurostat data, according to which almost half (49%) of Czechs use one of these products. Among the countries of the European Union, where the average reaches only 26%, this ranks us at the very top. A higher proportion of people using wearable electronics can only be found in the Netherlands (55%) and Ireland (50%).
Retailer DATART also confirms interest in this segment. His data shows that Czechs currently most often reach for smart watches, sales of which increased by 15% year-on-year in the first half of the year. “Smart watches are already fully established among Czech customers. In the vast majority of cases, people buy from us at least their second product in this segment. Most customers already have some experience with these devices and choose new watches based on them. Thanks to this, we are also seeing a growing interest in more expensive devices with premium features,” explains Roman Šubrt, DATART product marketing manager.
Health first
Smart watches and fitness bracelets have always found their supporters thanks to their ability to monitor a person’s bodily functions. Thanks to this, they quickly became an almost indispensable piece of equipment for every sports-oriented person who wants to have a perfect overview of their activities. “Smart watches are such a versatile partner for any physical activity. In addition to measurement, they will also provide you with invaluable feedback on what you are doing well and what could be improved.” he says Roman Šubrt. According to him, customers are increasingly interested in smart rings offering similar functions in an even more compact design.
However, it is not only athletes who can benefit from the advanced functions of tracking body values and indicators. Many of them will be appreciated even by those who are not very fond of sports. For example, the sleep monitoring function, which measures the length and quality of sleep and helps identify potential problems such as insomnia or sleep disorders, is very popular. Today, the functions of monitoring the heart rate or blood oxygenation are also an integral part of these products, which serve as a great indicator that everything is not quite right in the body.
“Smart watches monitor your heart rhythm and can alert you to unusual changes that could signal a health problem. Thanks to this, you can react in time and seek medical help, which can be absolutely crucial for the prevention of health complications,” explains Roman Šubrt. According to him, fall detection is a similarly invaluable function of many smart watches. “If the watch detects a sudden fall, it will immediately ask you if you are okay and if you are unresponsive, it will automatically call for help. This can even save a life in many cases.” supplies.
It will also replace the phone
However, it is certainly not the case that smart watches have no use for a person who is not interested in their health benefits. It will not be lost on the hands of anyone who aims for the most efficient use of their time. Compared to using a regular mobile phone, smart watches can significantly speed up and make a number of common tasks more efficient. Today’s top models can even fully replace the phone with their functions if necessary.
“Smartwatches keep you connected to the world. You can use them to make phone calls, play music or answer messages with the help of a voice assistant without any problems. They can help you even if you’re distracted by your phone.” points out Roman Šubrt. “When a person gets a notification on their phone, what often happens is that they get stuck on it and spend a lot more time with the phone in their hand than they would like. On your watch, you can quickly look at notifications and focus on what you need to do.” supplies.
